Eligibility

Who Qualifies for Aid & Attendance?

Aid & Attendance is a VA pension enhancement available to wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who need help with daily activities — bathing, dressing, eating, medication, or mobility.

Basic eligibility requires wartime service, an honorable or general discharge, a medical need for care, and income/asset levels within VA limits. The exact thresholds are complex — which is why most eligible veterans haven't applied.

Served during a wartime period (WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, etc.)

Honorable or general discharge from military service

Currently need help with daily activities or living in a care facility

Income and assets within VA thresholds (we help you assess this)

Surviving spouses of qualifying veterans may also be eligible

⚠️ Important: The VA has complex look-back rules on asset transfers. Some financial strategies that seem helpful can actually disqualify you. Our consultation covers this in detail before you take any action.
